Legislative Progression

Overview

The Legislative Progression feature in the Regology platform provides a visual representation of the connections between various authoritative documents, including laws, regulations, and proposed bills. This feature helps users track the evolution of legal documents from inception to finalization.

Note: Legislative Progression may not be available for every document.

Accessing the Legislative Progression

To view the legislative progression of an authoritative document:

  1. Navigate to the Law Library within the Regology platform.

  2. Locate the desired Authoritative Document.

  3. Click on the Legislative Progression icon adjacent to the document.

Understanding the Legislative Progression View

When accessing the Legislative Progression feature, the following elements are displayed:

  • Nodes representing different documents within the legislative process.

  • Lines connecting nodes, indicating relationships between documents.

  • Color-coded nodes:

    • Purple: Documents available in the Law Library.

    • Gray: Documents not available in the Law Library.

Hovering Over a Node

  • Displays basic information about the document.

  • If the node represents an Authoritative Document, the system displays:

    • The document title.

    • The citation reference.

  • If the node represents a document in progress, the system displays:

    • The document title.

    • The citation reference.

    • The current status of the document.

Clicking a Node

Clicking on a node opens a summary view of the selected document.

  • If the node represents a document in progress, the summary includes:

    • Document title.

    • Document source.

    • Latest version of the document.

  • If the node represents an Authoritative Document, the summary includes:

    • Document title.

    • Status of the document.

    • Publication and/or effective date.

    • Regulatory agency responsible for the rule.

    • Regulation ID Number (RIN).

    • Date when comments were closed.

    • Federal Register Citation number (Volume-Page Number).

    • A brief summary of the rule.

Viewing Complete Documents

To view the full text of a document:

  1. Click Open Document in the summary view.

  2. Alternatively, click on the document name within the summary to navigate to it directly.

By utilizing the Legislative Progression feature, users can efficiently track legal developments and understand the relationships between various legislative and regulatory documents.
